Advertiser Disclosure
Last updated: July 17, 2026
Boondock Maps is free to read. Here is how it pays for itself.
Display ads
We run display advertising. Those ads are sold and served by an ad network, not by us. We do not choose which advertisers appear, and an advertiser buying space on this site has no say in what we write. Ad slots are marked and sit outside the article body.
As of the date above, no ad network is live on the site yet. This page describes how it will work when one is.
Affiliate links
Some links on our gear pages go to retailers through affiliate programs. If you buy something after following one, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It does not change your price.
Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code. If a gear page links to a retailer, assume it may be an affiliate link.
What this does not affect
Two things stay off the table.
Rules and legality content is never sponsored. Nobody can pay to change what we say about where you can legally sleep, what a stay limit is, or whether a rest area allows overnight parking. That content exists to keep you out of trouble. Selling it would make it worthless. Every rule we publish cites an official source with a last-verified date so you can check our work yourself.
Gear rankings are not for sale. Our gear order comes from our own scoring and use. A brand cannot buy a spot, a score, or a better write-up. When a piece of gear is mediocre, we say so, including gear we earn a commission on.
Why we tell you this
Because a site that gets paid by the people it writes about should say so plainly, and because you should be able to judge our advice knowing where the money comes from. If you would rather not send us a commission, search the product name directly. The information here is the same either way.
